Week 2 waiver pick-ups

So I didn't have time to do these yesterday like I planned, so it's a day late but oh well. There were quite a few waiver pick-ups so I'll just get right into it. But first I would like to applaud everyone for not jumping on the Allen Hurns band wagon like it seems everyone else is doing. We're better than that here because we are The Awesome Guys.

Rolling Meadows Mustangs: add Titans D/ST, drop Christine Micheal

The Titans defense looked surprisingly good in week 1. They forced Alex Smith into 3 interceptions on the way to putting up 14 fantasy points again the Chiefs. The Titans have a interesting match-up this week as they face the turnover machine that is Tony Romo. However, with the weapons the Cowboys have on offense this week could pick apart the Titans defense also. It's easy to see why Zach dropped Christine Micheal. He's battling for the back up running back job on a team that has a 3 down running back as a starter. Not to mention Micheal is hurt and won't play till at least week 3.

Rollin BLOUNTs, Drinkin FORTEs: add Justin Forsett, drop Bernard Pierce

After the whole Ray Rice situation the Ravens starting running back job going forward is up for grabs. Following week 1 it looks like Justin Forsett is going to take over the starting job from Bernard Pierce. Forsett had a solid 14 point game last week and looks to be a solid RB2 for the upcoming weeks. Pierce on the other hand had trouble holding on to the ball against Cincinnati last week which lead to his benching. He will see playing time now that Rice won't be back, but it won't be as much as Forsett will receive.
One of my favorite Badgers ever.

Show Me Them TD's: add Texans D/ST, drop Steelers D/ST

This was probably a week 1 over reaction. The Texans D/ST had a huge game against the Redskins and their human sheet of glass who happens to be their quarterback. The Texans definitely have some stars on the defense lead by former Badger J.J. Watt, however with Clowney injured for the next 4 weeks they may struggle a bit. The reason I made this switch with these two defenses is because the Steelers got lit up in the second half by the great Brian Hoyer. The entire reason I drafted the Steelers in the first place was because they played the Browns week one. I expected a good week from them with multiple turnovers. I was wrong, and now they are off my team.

Rollin BLOUNTs. Drinkin FORTEs: add Isiah Crowell, drop Miles Austin

Apparently Tom felt bad about dropping a Cleveland Brown so he decided to pick another one up. I'll be honest, I had to look up who the hell Isiah Crowell is. Turns out he is the back up running back for the Browns who came in when Ben Tate got hurt. I'm not sure how well this pick-up will work out since Crowell probably won't see many carries once Ben Tate comes back, but Tate will be out a few weeks so Crowell may be a decent fantasy guy to use for these couple weeks. It also makes more sense when you look at the rest of the running backs on Tom's team (not exactly top tier guys). Miles Austin pretty much went to Cleveland to die. He used to be a solid fantasy option in Dallas, but he hasn't produced much of anything since he left for Cleveland. Without a decent quarterback for the Browns, he probably won't produce solid number again anytime soon.
Kyle Rudolph's high school grad picture

APeeing In The Wind: add Kyle Rudolph, drop Jordan Reed

The fact that Kyle Rudolph was in the free agent market is shocking to me. In my opinion Rudolph is definitely in the top 10 for tight ends. With a competent QB at the helm for the Vikings, Rudolph should get plenty of targets this season. With that being said I would put Jordan Reed a notch higher than Rudolph but Reed got hurt trying to be a human superman and hurdle a guy. I've read a few injury reports on Reed and I've seen everything from he's going to play this Sunday to he's going to be out multiple weeks so I really have no clue what is going on with him.

Team Mustangs: add Shonn Greene, drop Travis Kelce

Shonn Greene put up a 7 point game for the surprising Titans last week. That's not the best week, but what it did show was that for now atleast, Greene is the starting running back for the team. Therefore you knew someone who needs another running back was going to pick him up. This happens to be the Mustangs who have a stable of average running backs that could be replaced. It was an easy decision for T to drop Travis Kelce since he has 3 tight ends, including one of the best ones in the league (Vernon Davis). There is no reason to carry 3 tight ends throughout the season so I'm sure he didn't lose to much sleep over this one.

Wisconsin ArcticCats: add Ahmad Bradshaw, drop nobody

This looks like a good place to sit down.
First off it says that Gunnar didn't drop anyone on the league home page. However, he did actually drop Dan Bailey and the Bills D/ST on Tuesday so this move basically Bradshaw for Bailey and the Bills (lots of B's in this one). So first things first Gunnar, you still have an empty spot on your roster you fool! Pick someone else up! Anyways the ArcticCats picked up Ahmad Bradshaw who has been seeing considerable time as Trent Richardson's backup in Indy. Being that Gunnar also has Richardson, it makes sense to have his backup since Richardson has been a huge disappointment after being traded to the Colts.

Show Me Them TD's: add Kelvin Benjamin, drop Jarrett Boykin

This was a move I thought about making before last week. After his big week 1 performance it solidified my opinion of Benjamin so I went ahead and pulled the trigger. I'm hoping he is Cam Newtons number one target once he comes back which could lead to some big fantasy weekends. Besides, who else does Newton even have to throw to? Unfortunately I had to drop Jarrett Boykin in order to make this move. I think Boykin will have solid fantasy value this year since he is the in the former"James Jones" spot of the Packers offense. However I wanted a number 1 receiver over a number 3, but I might drop somebody else later down the road to re-pickup Boykin.

APeeing In The Wind: add Josh Gordon, drop Tim Wright

This move is based solely on whether or not the NFL passes the new drug policy they are discussing. If they do, Gordon can play this year. If not, Gordon will still be out for the year. If he plays, Gordon is one of the top fantasy receivers in the league which makes this a fairly solid gamble for Louie since it looks like Tim Wright is a hit or miss fantasy player in the Patriots offense that now has a healthy Gronk.

Rollin BLOUNTs, Drinkin FORTEs: add Ryan Succop, drop Nick Folk

Kicker swap! That's about all I have to say about this. I'm guessing Tom believes the Titans will kick more field goals this week than the Jets. There's really no other reason to swap kickers is there?

1 comment:

  1. Can we make a title for Kicker swaps or bye week defense swaps like the "Member of Project Mayhem" title we have for RP swaps in baseball? I nominate "STOP swap" or "kicked to the curb". Theres probably something better, we'll talk it over.
