Week 6 Recaps

Backyard Superstars (41-27-4)  9
Huckleberries (25-42-5)             2
1 Tie

Yea that arrow, it's pointing to Mr. Blackmon
My matchup against the Huckleberries was quite the roller coaster this week. In fact, coming into Sunday I believe our game was tied at 5 (with 2 ties). However, Gio Gonzalez decided to kill all of Kevin's pitching percentage numbers and therefore hand me more wins on a silver platter. It also didn't hurt that Yu Darvish had a near no hitter for me and that my bullpen produced 12 saves. On the offensive side I lost the batting average and on base percentage categories for the 800th week in a row. The Huckleberries received the most production from Matt Kemp who mashed out a .450/.476/.650 slash line. My biggest contributor was first time start Charlie Blackmon who I would like to point out I got for $1 last week on the waiver wire. Blackmon continued his hot start by getting 6 runs and 6 RBI's to go along with a stolen base.

All in all, this matchup is hard to judge because The Huckleberries still don't have all of their pieces in place since the take over of Kevin, including a missing outfielder and relief pitcher. This is a team that has some great players on it, and once Kevin gets a few more weeks to make some pickups, can get back into contention.

Zach Attack (34-35-3)      10
MWP Master's (33-36-3)   2

Jeff Samardzija
Hey! Give me some damn run support!
This Harmony division matchup was obviously dominated by Zach. The only two categories that MWP was able to win were RBI's and stolen bases. Hitting wise, David Ortiz's slash line of .438/.526/.750 lead Zach's team and helped him to win all 3 batting percentage categories. The best contributor to the offense for the Master's was Alexei Ramirez, who had the most runs, RBI's, and stolen bases in the matchup to go with a .375/.423/.583 slash line.  When it comes to pitching, it wasn't even close. Zach won all six categories including a whopping 70-34 win in strikeouts. Jeff Samardzija (ZA) produced the best stats for pitchers in this matchup even though he didn't get any run support to get him a win. MWP didn't have a horrible pitching week but simply ran into a buzz saw that is the Zach Attack pitching staff. It also doesn't help that two of MWP's pitchers landed on the disable list this week, C.C. Sabathia and Hyun-jin Ryu.

A key fact to look at in this matchup is that coming into the week there were 5 hitters on the disabled list between the two teams. Another weird fact is that this is the second week in a row these teams played. Last week, in the game featured on the MSSSMRMoW for week 5, MWP Master's won 6-5.

Lester the Molesters (23-47-2)    3
You Can Call Me Al (39-30-3)     9

Apparently this is Dallas Keuchel. I don't know him.
Coming into this week, the Lester who may just be a molester got molested once again. He came into the week in last place and will stay there for another week. You Can Call Me Al, which I recently heard for the first time, won all six hitting categories thanks to Buster Posey and Eric Hosmer who both produced huge slash lines. On the other hand, Adrian Gonzalez and Ian Desmond each had a horrifically bad week, which contributed to the meager hitting numbers produced by The Molesters. The one bright spot for The Molesters was pitching were they were able to earn a 3-3 category split. The best pitcher for each team in this matchup was Max Scherzer (YCCMA) who had 2 wins and 15 strikeouts, and Dallas Keuchel (LM) who had a win and 7 strikeouts.

An interesting fact from this matchup was the fact that YCCMA had a relief pitcher spot unfilled. Since saves/holds was one of the three categories lost by YCCMA, maybe a relief pitcher will be sought after come Tuesday's waiver transactions.

Merry Tyler's Moor Traveling Allstars (35-31-6)   6
Bob's Dee Gordon Stealers (39-29-4)                4
2 Ties

This was an out of division matchup that featured good, solid hitting without anyone having eye-popping numbers. The best hitter for each team this week was Dustin Pedroia (MTMTA) who posted a slash line of .353/.450/.471, and Matt Holliday (BAT) who produced a line of .400/.478/.400. Another key factor to this matchup was Dee Gordon, surprise surprise, who had 4 runs scored and won the stolen bases category all by himself with 5. The pitching in this matchup was incredibly even outside of the saves/holds category. Both ties in this matchup were on the pitching side (K's and QS). MTMTA barely received wins in the ERA and WHIP categories by .002 and .003 points. This was the kind of matchup where if one more pitcher, starter or reliever, would have pitched for Bob, the final score could have been dramatically different.
playoffs

As it is Bob will fall to second place in the league behind yours truly, and Tyler will gain a couple spots in the standings putting him in the 5th playoff spot for now. Yes i just mentioned the playoffs 6 weeks into a 25 week season solely so i can post this picture.
